The Fourth Transnational Meeting (TPM) of the Erasmus+ Immersive Surgical Education Project took place on October 15-16, 2025, at the LUHS Library and Information Center in Kaunas, Lithuania. The meeting focused on reviewing the project’s progress, addressing challenges, and planning future activities related to surgical training using Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), and Haptics. On Day 1, October 15th, the meeting began with an introduction to the agenda and a presentation of tasks planned and completed by project partners, led by LUHS and Prof. Filippo Sanfilippo. Following a coffee break, the first working session took place, where project milestones were defined, responsibilities allocated, and deadlines set. After lunch, a second working session continued with the same focus. Later in the afternoon, there was a demonstration of the final versions of VR simulations by KTU and LUHS, followed by a presentation of initial results from students’ practical implementation of VR scenarios, including surveys. The session also included an assessment of technological challenges in VR simulations, with proposed solutions from KTU and UNISI. The day concluded with a visit to the LUHS Medical Simulation Centre and a social dinner, offering an introduction to the city of Kaunas. On Day 2, October 16th, the meeting began with final remarks on ongoing activities. After a coffee break, attendees participated in a dissemination day, visiting the International Conference on Information and Software Technologies (ICIST’2025) in Kaunas, Lithuania. The meeting provided a platform for project partners to evaluate progress, discuss challenges, and align on future tasks and milestones for advancing immersive surgical education.
